The Red-Naped Sapsucker’s Guest Appearance

I called it a “woodpecker” in the You Tube video, but further Google searching reveals it’s probably a sap sucker.

There were three wary birds on the big maple tree in back this morning. In the past two days, I’ve seen many more insects around. The grass is not yet greening up, but it is definitely looking and feeling more springy out there.

Today, I cleaned the fall leaves off the back gardens, a rather dull task, but it does reveal many little flowers emerging beneath that leafy mat. Other than mowing the lawn and maybe ordering some plants, it’s about all the gardening I’ll do until after the school year ends—which is really a matter of a few weeks.

Anyway, this whole post is mostly just an excuse to put up the bird photos. Hope you enjoy them.
